Traveller Imperial Marines

Tonight I knocked out a squad of Imperial troops in Battle Dress to square off against the Zhodani.

Hasslefree Miniatures "Five-Eight" here. I really enjoy painting their miniatures.

Zhodani Grunts for Galactic Heroes

My Galactic Heroes game for Kubla Con this year will have room for six players. Each player will run a crew of approximately 5 figures. There will be three crews made up of Zhodani boarders and three crews of Imperial defenders. In addition to the crews each side will have some help from small bands of Grunts. The Grunts will become available to player crews through a variety of ways, mostly random.

For the Zhodani I did six three-man teams of Grunts. I used miniatures from the Sedition Wars game.

Imperial Naval Space Ship Empress Eulalie Soars

I've started working on the game I will be hosting at Kublacon in May this year. I want to run a Traveller RPG style boarding action using the incredibly fun Galactic Heroes rules.

I took my pdf copy of GDW's Azhanti High Lightning game and blew the maps up to scale with 28mm figures to use as a guide. My goal is to have six decks available for play. Each player's crew, whether they be part of the Zhodani boarding party or the Imperial crew will have primary and secondary objectives that will require them to move from deck to deck to perform a few skill tasks while staying alive.

To get a feel for scale I laid out a few terrain pieces and some figures on a couple of the 28mm scale Azhanti High Lightning maps. Above is the beginnings of the Boat Deck with a pair of shuttles to be.

Here is the beginnings of the Engineering Deck.

A pair of generators for Engineering I carved from foam.

These  will be Jump Field generators for the Jump Drive Deck. The design for these and the generators were heavily inspired by the creations of Micro Arts Studio.

Traveller - Imperial Shuttle Build

I found this Jedi Starfighter toy at a local second hand shop. Leeloo approves.

Ten minutes later its broken down to its component parts.

I decided to flip it upside down and change the facing of the cockpit. The thrusters will be attached to the wing tips and that empty space will become fuselage.

Cockpit placement. The old canopy will be cut down to fit on the top of the cockpit and I'll be putting a bubble canopy in the front.

Thrusters in position.

The start of the cockpit. The seats came from a toy car and the console is a Copplestone piece I believe.

Cockpit primed.

Mostly painted but it still needs a crew.
This is how it will sit in the body.

I'll finish the cockpit, pilot and passenger included and then move on to building the fuselage.

Night of Galactic Heroes

Galactic Heroes

I got together for a small, post holiday gathering of friends to play Galactic Heroes. This was my second time playing and first time for a few of the others.

I opted to use "The Emissary" scenario from the rules with a few changes.

We have two warring factions in a sector played who have agreed to meet for truce negotiations headed by an Emissary from a third party. In this scenario the Emissary, a Galactic Hero with psionic abilities, led a full crew and was totally capable of defending herself. The two warring factions each fielded a crew with the objective of protecting the Emissary and escorting her off the table via their initial starting position. The fourth crew was led by the interloper, a Galactic Villain with Psionic abilities, whose goal was to crash the negotiations party and kill the emissary to prevent a union between the two factions.

The Villain was able to get in quickly and maneuver into a position to charge the Emissary but was wounded and knocked down by a shot from one of the Emissary's crew. The Emissary quickly jumped in and dispatched the villain before she had a chance to get up.

Then one of the Galactic Villain's remaining troopers was able to do the same to the Emissary, placing a chunk of coherent light right between the Emissary's luminous peepers. Yay me, mission accomplished. Oh wait, I'm dead.

The factions then proceeded to pound on the Villain's remaining crew while the Emissary's crew got her limp form back on to the ship's boat and whisked away to the closest auto doc.

We all enjoyed the game thoroughly. The rules are a treat. There will be more of this game to play.

Some photos below.

The Emissary and her crew take cover behind their landing craft.

The Villain and her Security Droid move towards the Emissary's position.

Colonial troopers in combat armor.

Planetary rebels in rocks.

A long view of the table.

One of the cards in the deck I made for the game.
The Villain uses her Force Push against one of the Emissary's crew and their combat droids.
After being wounded by the Emissary's Specialist the Villain is taken out by a hasty attack, on a Red Deuce, by the Emissary.
After the fall of the Villain her one of her troopers takes a shot at the Emissary and returns the lethal favor while the Security Droid handles a swarm of combat drones with his cherished blaster pistol.
With the Emissary out of combat her crew decides withdrawal to be the best option. The Specialist starts lugging the Emissary's limp form back into the shuttle while the remaining crew gives covering fire.
The Planetary Rebels move up and start putting heavy fire into the Villain's remaining troopers.

As do the Colonial Troopers.

The Colonial Troopers target the Villain's Security droid and after two turns of heavy firing by the entire squad the droid is finished. At this point the Villains remaining troopers withdraw and the game is called. A marginal victory for the Villain but at a high, personal cost. At least she won't have to deal with of of those Force choking "Pep Talks" from her boss when she reports back in.

T-Minas Morgul 5 days and counting

First Horde of Orcs and Uruks completed and ready to fight
Second horde of Orcs painted. All that's needed here is to finish basing. It took me a day and a couple of afternoons to paint this batch.
Nazgul are done but for painting bases.

I have one more batch of Uruks and trolls to try and paint before the big day. With a little luck I should be able to get it all done and still have time for a few surprises.
